The surface

The world sees the sparkle.

We decorate ourselves. We perfect ourselves. We curate our image.

I use the flowers, jewels, and delicate details to explore that beautiful surface we offer the world—and the vulnerability it can protect.

I am asking what happens when being beautiful becomes the safest way to be seen.

In my words: the fuller story

I made Pink Privilege to examine beauty as a form of armor. The flowers, jewels, and delicate details represent the identities we carefully construct and present to other people.

Beauty can be expression, celebration, and empowerment. It can also become a way to conceal vulnerability. Beneath the decoration is a person asking whether you see them, or only the image they have chosen to show you.
